The Current and Future States of the American Economy (w/ David Walker) – Season 2, Ep. 2
We have the incredible honor of being joined by David Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States and someone who was the CEO of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) from 1998 to 2008.
Needless to say, he has a lot of insight into where the country is headed and how that could affect your dollars.
In this episode, David is helping us discuss the state of the American economy, some strategies the average person can do to help prepare, how the country might achieve fiscal responsibility, and more!
This was truly an insightful conversation and it’s one you don’t want to miss!

Key Takeaways:
 1) It is possible for our country to achieve fiscal responsibility. This would take two things: a statutory fiscal sustainability commission to gather data and make recommendations. Second, we need a constitutional amendment that will limit the growth of government and how much debt as a percentage of the economy we can take on.
2) There is always still hope. We need to make plans to help protect ourselves and our future. In addition to making a plan, we need to put pressure on elected officials to take action. The government may not be in the best position today, but there is still time to turn that ship around.
3) We will either take the steps for proactive reform or we will be forced to address a crisis. The government can work to address these issues now in such a way that allows us to plan and phase-in any new solutions. If they do not, we will have to deal with it when our country is in crisis. This is why it is so important to regularly communicate and share your perspective with your elected officials.
